About this Product
This striking necklace features a focal of graduated Mookaite stick beads, celebrated for their earthy hues and natural variations. The design is accented with solid bronze ring links and an antique brass Rollo chain, creating a timeless look that pairs beautifully with any casual outfit. A hand-made gold-filled clasp completes the piece, ensuring both style and durability.
The name "Mookaite" comes from the Aboriginal word Mooka, meaning "running water," and the stone originates from the Mooka River in the Kennedy Ranges of Western Australia.
I strive to capture the true colors and intricate details of each piece in my photos, but please note that colors may appear slightly different depending on your monitor settings. This necklace is as unique as the natural stones it features, making it a perfect addition to your jewelry collection.
How it’s Made
When I create a necklace with graduated stick beads, I begin by selecting from several strands to find the right balance. This part of the process can be time-consuming and occasionally frustrating, but I enjoy the challenge because the finished product brings me so much satisfaction. Once I've chosen the beads, I begin laying them out and making adjustments as I go. I then string the sticks alternately from the center to the left side, then the right, adjusting throughout to ensure everything is balanced.
Choosing the right spacer beads is another challenge I enjoy. I have to decide which size—2mm or 4mm—and which shape—round or rondelle—will work best for the piece. It’s a lot of trial and error, but when it all comes together, it’s incredibly rewarding.

Meet the Maker
A retired science teacher with 31 years of experience, I now channel my passion for discovery and creativity into my handcrafted jewelry business. Based in Ventura, CA, I live with my husband, Mark, and our two beloved cats, Luna and Bagel. After years of teaching, I’ve embraced this exciting chapter of artistic exploration, crafting jewelry that reflects my transformation from educator to artist.
I began making jewelry for myself and my family over 15 years ago and quickly discovered the calming, meditative joy of the creative process. What started as a personal hobby soon grew into a thriving business, with my pieces finding homes at local markets and beyond. Experimenting with color, texture, and materials keeps me inspired, and I’m always eager to learn new techniques and refine my craft.
My designs blend artistry with craftsmanship, often incorporating the warmth and character of bronze and copper alongside gemstones, glass, and other carefully chosen materials. Each necklace, bracelet, and pair of earrings tells a story, balancing traditional techniques with innovative artistry. My distinctive acrylic pour collection further reflects my love of bold color and fluid, abstract designs.
